Hello! My name is Abigail Acio, though most know me as Abby. I come from Centreville, VA, just outside of Washington, DC. In 2013, I graduated with a BS Biology and a minor in Chemistry from the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, VA, after which I took two gap years to participate in microbial genetics research before coming to Penn State. Forensic science has been a lifelong interest, and after graduation I hope to pursue a career in criminalistics and crime scene investigation, possibly with a federal agency. Otherwise, I enjoy spending my free time reading, writing, playing my instruments (guitar and violin), dancing, and crafting/painting.

Research Interests

My research, conducted under the guidance of Mr. Ralph Ristenbatt, will be investigating the transport of blood through fabric and the fabric's effects, if any, on bloodstain morphology. Ultimately, the hope is to contribute to the field of bloodstain pattern analysis by examining the behavioral patterns of larger quantities of blood during passive stain formation.
