Hi! My name is Cory Weiss and I am from Brodheadsville, Pennsylvania, a small town in the Pocono Mountains.  I graduated from York College of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor’s degree in Forensic Chemistry and a minor in Criminal Justice.  Upon graduating I decided I wanted to continue my education in the field of Forensics to reach my career goals, and Penn State seemed like the perfect place to do it! I love the hands on nature of the program, and it doesn’t hurt that my family has a long tradition of Penn State graduates and loves the Blue and White.  My career goals are uncertain, but I do know that I would like to work with forensics in the field.  Outside of being a student I like to spend my time being outdoors hiking, four wheeling, or just enjoying nature.  I also am an avid runner, having finished the Marine Corps Marathon twice, and running various other races.

Research Interests

For my research I will be working with Mr. Ralph Ristenbatt.  The project I will be working on consists of gunshot residue analysis on mammalian furs.  This research is looking to find the best way to visually or chemically enhance GSR patters on animal furs.  Using various methods I will be looking to find a method to determine the distance from which the shot was fired.
