Hi! My name is Marcel Burton. I am from Burlington County, New Jersey. I graduated from Stockton University in Galloway, New Jersey, in 2016, with a B.S in Biology, minor in Chemistry, and concentration in Forensic Science. I have always known that I wanted to pursue Forensic Science in my future and I get intrigued learning about the field.  I applied and decided to join Penn State’s Master Program in Forensic Science because I loved the atmosphere and the environment of the program. My future plans are still to be determined, but I hope to eventually work in a federal crime lab as a DNA analyst. My hobbies include reading and dancing, which I do in my free time here at Penn State.

Research Interests

My research will consist of one project that will use DNA typing to statistically quantify the DNA of Afro-Caribbean people, specifically Garifuna people. A second project that will start later in the semester will involve massive parallel sequencing for fingerprints revealed by nanotechnology.
