Biographical Information:Mr. Timothy Kupferschmid

Timothy Kupferschmid has over 25 years of executive management and forensic DNA testing experience. Mr. Kupferschmid holds two master's degrees; one in forensic science and the other is an MBA.

Mr. Kupferschmid has worked as a senior DNA analyst at the Armed Forces DNA Identification Laboratory (AFDIL), served as the Laboratory Director of the Maine State Police Crime Laboratory and was the Forensic Technical Director at Myriad Genetic Laboratories, Inc. Mr. Kupferschmid was the scientific founder of Sorenson Forensics in 2006. In 2013, he moved to the New York City Office of Chief Medical Examiner where he leads its four laboratories – Forensic Biology, Forensic Toxicology, Molecular Genetics and Histology.

Currently, Mr. Kupferschmid serves on the Quality Infrastructure Committee of the Organization of Scientific Area Committees (OSAC). Mr. Kupferschmid has given hundreds of scientific presentations and has co-authored numerous scientific publications. He is a Black Belt in Lean Six Sigma and has been practicing those improvement methods since 2008.
