Kaitlyn Chetney: Hi! My name is Kaitlyn Chetney and I am from Shorewood, IL, a Southwest suburb of Chicago. I graduated from The University of Missouri (Mizzou) in 2018 earning my B.S. in Chemistry and a minor in Biology.

I felt that my choice was easy after I visited Penn State; it was a program that made me feel confident I would come out a well-rounded and knowledgeable person in the field of forensics. The facilities and the variety of courses offered were also very impressive. In my free time, you'll find me sitting by the pool, doing crafts, or listening to music.

For my research project, I work with Ralph R. Ristenbatt on the formation and examination of bloody fingerprints on common fabrics that may be found at crime scenes. The bloody friction ridge patterns are examined using a variety of enhancement techniques such as different chemicals and dyes. I currently am forming and enhancing bloody fingerprints using Amido Black, Leucocrystal Violet, DFO, Hungarian Red, or Acid Yellow 7.
