Hello, my name is Stephanie Harrold. I am from Wall Township, New Jersey. I graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia in 2015 with a B.S. in Forensic Chemistry. I applied to Penn State’s Master’s program for forensic chemistry because it provides a broad spectrum of education over topics in forensic science, and because it has a very hands-on curriculum. I also appreciate the dedication of the faculty and other graduate students here at Penn State. After I graduate, I hope to use the knowledge gained here at a job in a crime lab providing chemical analysis for arson and explosive cases. In my free time I enjoy movies, reading, and crochet.

Research Interests

I am working with Mr. Moorehead on my research project. My interests include the chemical analysis of hypergolic mixture explosive residues and how it can apply to casework. I hope to be able to differentiate between hypergolic mixtures using the FTIR spectra of the explosive residues, and also to compare spectra obtained from different FTIR techniques and instruments.
